'Walking in a Winter Wonderland', an exclusive design for Help for Heroes this Christmas by Chris, a member of our Band of Brothers Fellowship, chosen as part of our annual Christmas card competition. This card is part of our Creative Force range of products, celebrating the creative talent within our community.
This adorable design features a wire-haired fox terrier called Becky, in her tri colour Help for Heroes coat. A beautifully illustrated design for any pet-lover and super way to support more people like Chris to find their sense of purpose.
Joining the Royal Military Police in 1978, Chris had dreamt of life in the Army from an early age. Tragically, the combination of a spinal injury and the contraction of a tropical disease lead to Chris suffering life-changing symptoms and her discharge in 1999.
“The support that Help for Heroes has given means everything to me and I believe it has saved my life. For the past 20 years I have struggled to find an identity and sense of purpose, I felt worthless.”
Chris’ muse for her Christmas card painting is her rescue dog, Becky, who helps her condition: Becky is made up of a variety of breeds but mainly wire-haired fox terrier. She’s about four years old and has been my companion for three. I named her after David Beckham, but, unlike him, she is useless at football as all balls are soon punctured or eaten! She is a very lively, happy little girl, packed full of love, fun and cheekiness!'.
