First introduced in 1937, the Hurricane went on to become one of the most prolific fighter aircraft of World War Two, being at the forefront of Britain’s defence during the Battle of Britain in 1940, inflicting as much as 60 percent of the losses sustained by the Luftwaffe. Following the Battle of Britain the Hurricane continued to give exemplary service; through the Blitz it was the principle single-seat night fighter in Fighter Command and went on to fight in all the major theatres of the Second World War.
