Kath Carter, Regional Volunteer Coordinator West
Kath started with Help for Heroes two and half years ago as a local volunteer for Bridgend before undertaking the role of local coordinator. Kath has since been appointed regional volunteer coordinator and is employed by Help for Heroes, but still volunteers herself as a way of giving something back to those who have been affected by their military service.
Having seen first-hand how Help for Heroes can support those that have been injured in service, Kath wanted to do her bit to make sure that help is there for years to come.
Kath says “I take a lot from knowing that I am helping in some way. It may not seem a lot, but when I meet and talk to those injured it reminds me that anything is achievable, and I have played a part in that.”
Proud Welsh-woman Kath loves that H4H is delivering Community Recovery across Wales and thinks it’s great timing to launch the Welsh range which she helped design. Kath says, “We were sent samples for the designs and we all agreed on the same ones. It's nice to have Welsh on the t-shirts, and for them to be so similar to the traditional designs that they still have the Help for Heroes feel.”
Kath’s 12-year-old son Thomas joined his mum on our photoshoot and shows that the range looks great on young supporters as well as adults. “I love the Welsh clothes,” he says, “Everyone should be proud to wear their support for our armed forces.”
